The biggest addition to the 2nd Ward is the new entertainment and shopping center called the Epicentre. This new development is home to restaurants, bars, retail shops, a movie theatre, hotel, and bowling alley. The Epicenter shows great promise to be a hub of activity for years to come.  The movie theatre at the Epicentre provides a unique movie-going experience with reclining chairs and love-seats that are available for reservation so you are sure to have the seat you want. A botique hotel is also open called A Loft. This hotel is targeted for people who enjoy loft syle homes and want the modern feel when they are away from home. One development that has brought a lot of attention to the 2nd ward is the new Nascar Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is anticipated to open in late 2009 and is expected to bring millions of tourist to the city. This anticipated growth of tourism has prompted development of hotels, shopping, and restaurants in the area surrounding this site. The Nascar Hall of Fame block also includes a new office tower that is nearing completion. 

One of the more notable sections of 2nd Ward is called The Green. This site is home to The Ratcliffe, a residential condominium, as well an under-ground parking deck that is topped with a park and restaurants. This development was the first of its kind in the city when it was built in the late 1990s. The Green is home to various events including an outdoor ice skating rink in the winter and an outdoor movie series in the summer. Located at The Green is the Uptown's only organic restaurant called Ratcliffe's on The Green. This restaurant specializes in serving fresh from the farm organic meals from local farmers so that each ingredient is as fresh and healthy as possible.
